Flower Garden Plan

Posted By: Garden Planner

When you are planning the landscaping around your home and want to add a flower garden to the mix you will want to have the perfect spot for it. It is my opinion that any project in the yard would do better with a bit of a flower garden plan behind it. The first thing you need to do before you decide to pick the perfect spot is decide what you want to accomplish with the garden. Will you want it to be a place for others as well as yourself to enjoy or do you just need your own personal relaxing retreat?

If you want to entertain several, five, ten or fifteen, people at one time you are going to need a space big enough for everyone without anyone feeling crowded. This is definitely not the type of garden you can have if you have a small area to work with. First, you need to decide how many people you would most likely be entertaining at once. If you only have a few close friends and family you will not need a space big enough for several people. On the other hand if you have several friends and family you need a space big enough to fit everyone.

If you have about ten friends and family that you know you will be entertaining in your garden you will need to have a big enough open space that you can fit tables and chairs and have the garden surrounding them. This way everyone can have a great view of a part of the garden from his or her chairs. Also, you can have a gazebo or a fountain in the middle of your garden just to enhance the beauty and possibly a nice shaded place to get together. If creating a great atmosphere for entertaining you should include plenty of white flowers that look especially nice in the dark.

For many people, they do not expect to be entertaining in their gardens. They are creating a garden as a place they can go and relax after a long day’s worth of hard work. Most people do not know this, but you can actually lower stress levels by surrounding yourself with plants. When planning your get-away garden you will want to have a spot that you feel comfortable in and that you will unlikely be bothered by other people and loud noises of the world around you. You may want to even include a comfortable hammock or a reclining outdoor chair.

These are just a few tips from one gardener to another. Adding a flower garden to your yard whether for entertaining or for relaxing is a great idea for anyone with a nice yard. The type of flowers you plant are also important to the purpose of your flower garden, as mentioned above you will want white flowers in abundance if you plan on entertaining a lot. Moonflowers are a great choice for this type of garden. However, for a get-away garden you will want to have flowers that have soft colors and smells to help you unwind.
